ANTOINETTE Perez

North County (inland) Event Host

Hey ladies! My name is Antoinette! I live in Poway.. I'm 38, born and raised in San Diego and love bringing people together! I'm currently a teacher for special needs students with mild/moderate disabilities in San Marcos at a middle school there and I'm also a leader for several meetup groups for the last few years.

In my free time, I love spending time with my boyfriend of nearly 7 years, seeing my girlfriends for a drink or meal, and leading hiking and social events for my various meetup groups. GTB was one of the first groups I joined on meetup and I am so grateful for it..it gave me some of my best friends and also the confidence to host events.

I used to be shy but now I'm a very outgoing leader for a few groups and I have this group to thank for that! It really helped bring me out of my shell. :) I'm excited to be hosting for GTB for the north county area and to show you ladies some of my fav spots!

Cleo Nunnelly

Hello brunch besties! I’m Cleo Nunnelly & GTB is a group that has quickly captured my heart and always leaves me feeling so grateful for this community!

I’m a Midwest native and moved to CA in 2020 - so I’m still a CA newbie and LOVE getting to venture out to new places with new friends at GTB events!

In my free time, you can find me snuggling with my pup, visiting wineries with friends, or binge watching Grey’s Anatomy.

See you at brunch soon!

Krystal reynoso

GTB San Diego Board Member + Event Host

Krystal is a force to be reckoned with, with a love for life that is truly infectious. As a Southern California native, she spends her days exploring all the best vegan brunch spots in town, always on the hunt for the perfect Instagram moment. Her constant companion on these adventures is her rescue dog, Binx, who is as much of a foodie as she is.

With years of experience in event planning, Krystal is a master at creating the perfect atmosphere for people to let their hair down and be their best selves. She has a talent for finding the perfect balance of fun and relaxation, ensuring that everyone has an amazing time.

When she's not working, Krystal likes to start her day at a cute coffee shop around town, fueling up for the day ahead. She's also an avid sports lover, and she can often be found cheering on her favorite teams at a local bar with friends.

Krystal's love for wine, scary movies, and snacks is legendary, and she always knows how to create the perfect ambiance for a night in with her favorite flicks and treats. But despite her love for exploring new places and trying new things, the beach remains her ultimate happy place. There's nothing she loves more than soaking up the sun and the surf, and her enthusiasm for all things beachy is contagious.

GIGI SHUMWAY

GTB San Diego Board Member + Event Host

Gigi is the perfect balance of 1 part sunshine, 1 part resilient, and a sprinkle of magic. Originally from Yokosuka, Japan, she spends her free time exploring hidden gems throughout Southern California whether it's finding her new favorite bite, a new experience, or finding a spot to get some much needed relaxation. While this busy bee is always looking for her next DIY project or travel destination, she spends time at home as the best dog mom to Honey B. and April May- the most ridiculous German Shepherds in all the best ways.

As a proud Banana Slug (UCSC Rachel Carson College/College Eight '14), she is known amongst her peers as the Jane-of-all-trades. After spending several years working in different industries (hospitality, sales & marketing), Gigi finally decided to freelance and pursue her dream to become The Asian Martha Stewart. Gigi is a creative guru as she is also the go-to to get things done.

When it comes to anything she does, she wants to do it to the fullest because there is no half ass-ing. She doesn't believe in being basic, everything has to be done with full gusto. Whether she's cheering at sporting events or she's celebrating a friend's big milestone, you can count on her to give her all.

Even though she is full of energy, Gigi does enjoy being at home, especially if it means having a family cuddle puddle with her dogs and husband. You can also find her creating mocktail recipes or making matcha tea when she's not obsessing over Dutch Bros Coffee. She believes that every occasion deserves a charcuterie board and there is always room for more to sit at the table. Her favorite season is persimmon season- it's the best time of year aside from "-ber season". After traveling and moving a lot growing up, Gigi has made it a priority to use her experience to promote community, ensure to celebrate every win- big or small, and continue to find ways to make each day positive.

SOME OF OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

.....

SOME OF OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS .....

  • Heyyyyyy sissssta, soooooooul sistaaaaaa ... where have you been my whole life?!?!??!?!

    No but really… :)

This has to be our most popular UNSPOKEN question yet, but when we break it down there is a collective sigh of relief….

    So here’s the schtick….

β€œShowing up” can be met with the ALLLLLL the what - ifs .

    1. What about if everyone already knows one another?

    2. Am I going to be the ONLY first timer?

    3. What about if no one β€œsees me”?

    4. And There’s about 20 other what - ifs, going through your mind

AND you are not alone because about 50% of our attendees are asking themselves the exact questions!

however here is a little bit more math for you… 99.9% of our events are a pretty even mix of gals that have been a bunch of times (40%), those that have maybe been to an event or two (20%) and BRAND NEW GTB friends (40%), I am so confident in that statistic, I’ll almost put a guarantee on that, lol.

last caveat that I will mention is that I highly recommend and suggest, coming on your own, I know the temptation is to round up all your girlfriends (unless you met em at a GTB event lol), but there is a element you tend to miss out on when you don’t have the gift of putting yourself out there, you’ll typically be in the same bubble and safety net… just putting it out there… AND there is no guilt or shame if thats what it takes for you to come too, we obvi love new friends, just some food for thought…

Part of our culture is that Everyone is always encouraged to meet someone new at every event! Especially those that have been before and are in your shoes…

Aaaand What - IF we didn’t get a chance to know you!

You are worth knowing my friend and I can’t wait to get to know you! That’s actually the under-girth theming in our events is that YOU ARE ACTUALLY THE GIFT and in the risk of showing up, it’s you knowing your worth being known too…

  • It depends on the event, if we get at least a 5 day notice, we can typically honor that ( - the taxes + fees). However there are some events where that isn’t possible because of supplies, deposits and such where it makes the scenario a bit challenging.

Typically the easiest way to off load a ticket you no longer need is posting the FB group - you’ll typically have no problem having someone take on that exchange with you. We just ask that you email and let us know so we can update the ticket holders information.

  • Every event is unique depending on the scope, context + space, depending on venue some are more intimate and others we advocate to fill to the brim, packing in as many as we can, because we want a seat for everyone at the table and its quite magical.

We host a wide array of organic events every month, where you get to show up, pull up a chair, come as you are, no fuss, messy buns and all and have some really good conversations, enjoy brunch + walk away with some really good and amazing new friends.

Occasionally we love to throw a good party and have a more curated experience as well, but it can be challenging to pull off and we try to be as budget conscious too while supporting and collaborating with local events our priority is accessibility + creating a super soft place to land, that is warm + friendly.

Our events our meant to connect women in a fun, no pressure way, create community in our city (because its the stuff that changes the world around us) + help create spaces for friendships to happen, because no one quite prepares you for this post college lol and making, keeping + maintaining adult friendships are a whole THANG especially as we go through life’s transitions, just moving somewhere, post school, new jobs, marriages, break ups, wins + losses - and we are here for you, we’ve all been there.

We come together to support, encourage &champion the women in our city, to enjoy brunch, enjoy one another’s company, to share our stories and to become something so much bigger than our individual experiences.

As human beings we are literally hard wired for community and social media is great and all for connection however when it comes to doing life together real, raw, authentic, genuine life, there is something that lacks within a 150 character status update… It makes us FEEL connected when yet the real pandemic that we’ve experienced is loneliness because we’re actually more disconnected than ever…

    GTB Helps Solve that.

The table is where real life happens, you see hearts being knitted together in relationship, you see moments of inadequacy falling to the way side, you see people walking in their best self a bit shinier & brighter after being able to JUST BE, the magic and gift of putting our phones down and just being able to be PRESENT!

  • We are made up of a diverse group of women, that come from all walks of life…

We are made up of every color, background, socio economics, educational experiences, religion, single, married, kids, no kids + more and we wouldn’t have it any other way, we all might love, vote or worship a little different but its truly a sight to behold. I call it the 8th wonder of the world - its BEAUTIFUL!

While we are a group made up of mostly gen z + millennial women, and this is more related to the demographic that we serve… However super important caveat is that we’d NEVER EVER, everrrrrr age anyone out, (duh). + 2. We honor every generation and so appreciate what they carry and what they can pour in 3. so we say all that AND we more so put an emphasis on the season and stage of life we are all in… so come as you are and know there is a space for you too and we love visitors and out of town guests, so if mom or someone else is in town bring em’, where/when appropriate you want your daughter to come experience what she can look forward to in a group like GTB, we’d love that too.

Our gals are young professions, others have been killin’ it in their spheres of influence, some our astonishing entrepreneurs and some have a few side hustles up their sleeve, we have others that are single and ready to mingle and also some that are in love, we have experienced momma’s and some brand new. The point? We can all pour into one another.

It’s about for once maybe we don’t try to box ourselves in but actually get to all connect in what makes us, us in the first place which is our humanity.

We all are made up of different life experiences and perspectives and we want to honor that and create safe spaces where you are loved, seen and free to impart who you are.

  • a gool ol RSVP reminder that while we get emergencies that come up, we can't afford to think everyone is the exception πŸ™‚ so a lil' heart-to-heart.... as much as we love a dramatic entrance, if your wakin up on a saturday or sunday and maybe you stayed up too late the night before or those sign up jitters get the best of ya and you feel like you showing up wouldnt make a difference - my darlin gal it absolutely 100% does, your givin people a chance to miss out on you and all the beautiful magic you carry - your presence will always matter and not just from a commitment perspective but from a you are part of this community and you so deeply and wildly matter, this community isnt a party without YOUUUUU!!!!

At Gals That Brunch, we're all about building a vibrant and supportive community. The whole reason we've implemented RSVP and RSVP fees is so that everyone staaaays true to their commitment. When you RSVP, it's not just about a few bucksβ€”it's about investing in a COMMUNITY experience that just isn't the same without YOUUUUUUU! You matter to us, and we want you to be part of the magic.

Running a global gal-pal community empire comes with its own challenges and cha-chings. Our mission is way bigger than just devouring avocado toast; it's about leaving a legacy of love, support, and empowerment. and making our big ol world feel alot less lonely!!!

And let's talk about those event fees. They're not just some random numbersβ€”we pour them right back into the events we create with a wholeee lotta loveee. When someone doesn't show up, it feels like we're throwin' away money, and trust me, throwin' away money makes me saddd. Now, if you love throwin' away money, we'll happily accept donations (LOL), but seriously, those funds are meant to go back into our COMMUNITY where they can make a REAL differenceβ€”not end up in the trash (pleaseeeeeee).

We want to be good stewards of these resources entrusted to us. We have about a million expenses that come with running a community organization, and our goal is to use those resources wisely. We're not just here to brunch; we're here to be a community organization that leaves a lasting impact. And y'all get the pointβ€”we dream big!

But let me share the most crucial point: in our community, we get to display love and care for one another. With those waitlists racking up these daysssss, one of the ways we can do that is by hookin' a sista uppppp. We want to give someone else the chance to snag that spot and have an opportunity to build community tooo. By doing this, you're not only honoring your commitment but also showing care and respect for your fellow gals. Together, we're pioneers, forging a new path and creating exceptional experiences for everyone.

So, help us be the best stewards we can be, and please, pretty please, if something unexpected pops up and you can't make it, let us know ASAP and in an appropriate time frame. We've worked long and hard to bargain for that spot, lol I don't know if ya noticed but it takes some elbow grease to allow restaurants to allow us to storm the castles lol and we want to make sure someone else can benefit from it. I don't want to micro-manage it or create guilt and shame around it, I just want to help empower everyone with some transparency and stress the importance of it. We're incredibly grateful to have each and every one of you as part of our community, and we love you all to the moon and back! Let's keep making a difference together! πŸ’–

  • Gals That Brunch is more than bubbly bevys and social moments; it's a call-to-action against the epidemic of loneliness plaguing this generation. While we might happen to snap those gorgeous photos and toast to the weekend, at our core, we're a movement. Our ethos, deeply grounded in Honor, Wholeness, Freedom, Diversity, and Intimacy, serves as our compass. We're here to break not just bread but also the chainsβ€”chains of isolation, guilt, and societal stigmas.

Close your eyes and imagine a flourishing San Diego. Local businesses are booming and social issues are dwindling, all because a community of audacious women took a stand. Our ambition is grand: to incite a ripple effect that will extend beyond our brunch tables, seeping into every nook and cranny of our city, confronting issues from loneliness to systemic injustices.

So, why pull up a chair with us? Because Gals That Brunch isn’t just a community; it’s a sisterhood aimed at propelling you into your fullest potential. We're offering more than just a seat at our table; we’re offering you a role in this awe-inspiring, life-altering journey. Here, you're not just a face in the crowd; you're an integral piece in this monumental, change-making puzzle.

So, are you ready to rise above the superficial, to bring your authentic self into a circle that celebrates you and embarks on a soulful mission for collective transformation? If this stirs your soul, then Gals That Brunch is inviting you not just to a meal but to be a part of a movement that echoes through generations. Are you in?"

Did we miss a question? or Perhaps you can help a sista out and you have a recommendation on some other questions we can add commentary too for those inquiring/curious minds…. β€”> Email us HERE.
